Conditions - General Health
Cervicogenic Headache - is defined as a headache, but where the actual source comes from the in the cervical spine (neck). The most common cause of this headache is mechanical (joint) dysfunction and hypertonic (tight) neck muscles. As the vertebral arteries pass through the cervical vertebrae, any dysfunction could irritate these arteries and possibly decrease the blood supply to the head and cause a headache. Soft tissue massage and Chiropractic treatment can alleviate these types of headaches.
Migraines - the symptoms of a migraine include:
-
moderate to severe throbbing head pain
-
most commonly affects one side - one sided head pain
-
pain located near the eye on affected side
-
pain that worsens with physical activity

-
nausea or vomiting
-
debilitating pain that hinders daily activities
-
untreated attacks most commonly last from four to 72 hours, but may persist for weeks
Apart from pain medication (e.g. NSAID's), Soft tissue massage and Chiropractic treatment may also assist in the prevention of Migraines.
